Greece October 2010: Polo on top, A1 in Top 30

The economic crisis hitting Greece impacted on car sales: at 7,803 in October they drop 36% over 2009, which was already -41% over 2008. The year-to-date figures are at -32%.

Traditionally dominated by compact cars (Golf, Astra, Auris), this year the Greek market is led by minis: with 5.2% market share, the VW Polo is #1 in October whereas the Toyota Yaris is #1 in the year-to-date ranking with 4.2%. In fact, the Top 5 year-to-date is 100% minis with the Ford Fiesta #2, the Opel Corsa #3, the Polo #4 and the Fiat Panda #5.

The Audi A1 is by far the best-selling Audi model and breaks into the Top 30 already in 29th (1%). Other strong performers this month are the Toyota Aygo (#8), Skoda Yeti (#22), Alfa Romeo Giulietta (#25), Peugeot 3008 (#27) and Dacia Duster (#46).
