Greece June 2026: Toyota Yaris signs first win in 2 years, strongest market in 17 years
The Toyota Yaris is the best-seller in Greece for the first time since July 2024.
New car sales in Greece surge 27.5% year-on-year in June to 18,668 units. This is the strongest June volume in the country in 17 years: since the 24,372 units of June 2009. The year-to-date tally is now up 7.4% to 83,965, the highest at this stage of the year since 2010 (98,531). Toyota (+85.3%) spectacularly cements its dominance, reaching 17.6% share which is its best since last September. Notably, this is way more than double the #2, Peugeot (+13.6%) which fails to catch up with the soaring market. Suzuki (+17.6%) also does, but Dacia (+65.2%) and Renault (+120.4%) are both euphoric. Fiat (+42.7%) also beats the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Chinese Chery (+1857.1%), BYD (+105.3%) and MG (+81.8%) stun further down.
Over in the models charts, the Toyota Yaris (+125.8%) jumps six spots on May to lead the way for the first time since July 2024. It is followed by its stablemate the Yaris Cross (+171.3%) also shooting up and remaining at #1 year-to-date. In fact, the entire Top 4 more than double their sales year-on-year, with the Dacia Sandero (+115.6%) and Renault Clio (+172.3%) in tow. The Suzuki Swift (+12.2%) is a lot more discreet and drops three ranks on last month to round out the Top 5. Excellent performance also by the Hyundai i20 (+166.2%) at #7. the MG 3 (+401.2%) is up to #11, the Fiat Grande Panda at #15 and the new Chery Tiggo 4 is up 16 spots to #18.
