Thanks to Falkonz I can share with you much more detail about the Thai new car market today: a Top 50 models ranking over the first 7 months of 2013. Overall, new car sales in Thailand are up 14% year-on-year to 839,046 registrations, at this stage still on track for another record year however it will be hard to match the frenzy of the last months of 2012 to finish 2013 above 1.436 million units. The Toyota Hilux is the most popular vehicle in the country over the period with 128,103 sales and 15.3% share, above the Isuzu D-Max at 118,665 units and 14.1%.

The Honda City confirms it is now the best-selling passenger car for now, staying above the Toyota Vios thanks to 61,819 sales and 7.4% vs. 57,234 and 6.8%. This may change once the new generation Vios is in full gear. The Toyota Corolla, now in runout mode, is up 2 spots compared to the 5 months ranking to 5th place at 28,084 units and 3.3%, passing the Nissan Almera and Mitsubishi Triton. The Suzuki Swift jumps inside the Top 10 at #9, the Ford Ranger is up 4 ranks to #15 while the Mitsubishi Attrage makes its first appearance in the ranking at #36 with 2,806 sales (all in July). We saw in the August report that the Attrage should climb up the ranking very fast in the coming months.
