Switzerland May 2012: VW Tiguan stays on podium

29,441 new cars were sold in Switzerland in May, bringing the year-to-date total to 137,405. The usual suspects top the models ranking: the VW Golf sells 940 units for a 3.2% market share while the Skoda Octavia ranks #2 at 886 units and 3%. In fact the Top 4 is unchanged vs. last month with the VW Tiguan on the podium for only the second time in the nameplate’s career thanks to 510 sales and 1.7% and the Mercedes C-Class is #4 at 467 units and 1.6%.

Other great performers this month include the Audi A4 up a massive 19 spots on last month to #5, the Mini up 13 to #7, the Suzuki Swift up 2 to #9, the BMW 1 Series up 7 to #12, the BMW X3 up 7 to #16, the Hyundai i30 up 12 to #22, the Fiat  Punto up 22 to #23, the Suzuki SX4 up 9 to #28, the Peugeot 208 breaking into the Top 50 for the first time at #37 and the Subaru XV up 18 to #40.

Finally both most recent Audis reach their highest ranking in Switzerland this month: the Audi A1 is up 15 ranks on April to #17 with 327 sales and 1.1% whereas the Audi Q3 breaks into the Top 20 for the first time to #19 at 326 units and 1.1%. Switzerland is the second country in the world with Austria where the Q3 has broken into the Top 20.
