Croatia July 2026: BYD Atto 2 storms into Top 5
The BYD Atto 2 lodges its first Top 20 finish in Croatia, directly at #5
The Croatian new car market is up 2.6% year-on-year in July to 6,357 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 5.1% to 49,897. The Top five brands vastly outpace the market with at least double-digit YoY gains. Skoda (+25.6%) remains in the lead with 15.1% share above Volkswagen (+14.5%) with Suzuki (+84.2%) surging to third place. Toyota (+31.7%) follows but the best performer of all is -surprise – BYD up 754.8% to a new record 5th position, eclipsing its previous best of #7 established just last month. The Chinese carmaker also breaks its record volume (359) and share (5.6%). #1 a year ago, Opel (-71.6%) implodes to #6 but still ranks #3 year-to-date. Other great performers below include Ford (+431.4%), Peugeot (+83.3%), Cupra (+68.1%) and Mazda (+39%).
Looking at models, the Skoda Octavia (+26.3%) is back on top, dislodging the VW T-Cross (+14.5%) to return to the pole position it holds year-to-date. The Suzuki Vitara (+55.9%) is up five spots on June to #3 while the Opel Frontera (+581.2%) continues to impress at #4 and ranks #3 so far this year. The hero of the month is the BYD Atto 2 storming into the Top 20 directly in 5th place with 2.5% share. The Atto 2 is the second most successful Chinese model in Croatia below the MG ZS which peaked at #2 in December 2024. The Suzuki S-Cross (+425%), VW Golf (+178%) and Toyota Yaris Cross (+118.3%) also deliver excellent performances.
