Portugal June 2026: Sales up 13.6%, Dacia and Tesla break volume records
Dacia posts its first 2,000+ sales month in Portugal.
Another solid result for new car sales in Portugal, up 13.6% year-on-year in June to 26,349 units, keeping in mind June 2025 was already up 14.8% on the year prior. Halfway through the year the market is up 10.5% to 137,080. Peugeot (+3.4%) reclaims the top spot off Volkswagen (+26.6%) but remains below its YTD level at 8.9% share vs. 9.7%. Dacia (+22.8%) climbs to 2nd place overall with 8% of the market, and passes the 2,000 monthly sales mark for the first time ever at 2,103. Tesla (+43.2%) is up right now #4 with 7.1% share, its best since last September but with an all-time high volume at 1,883 (previous best 1,765 in November 2023). Below, Fiat (+103.1%), BYD (+41.9%) and Citroen (+20%) shine.
Model-wise, the Tesla Model 3 (+77.1%) surges ahead and brilliantly repeats at #1 with 4.7% share vs. 2.7% year-to-date. This is the 6th time the Model 3 is the overall best-seller in Portugal after November 2023, May 2024, September 2024, September 2025 and May 2026. The Peugeot 2008 (-9.7%) follows, and stays #1 year-to-date. Meanwhile the Dacia Sandero (+47.7%) is back up 12 spots on May to #3, ahead of the Peugeot 208 (+67.8%) and Citroen C3 (+59.8%) in equally great shape. The Tesla Model Y (+5.2%) climbs five ranks to #6, wth the Seat Ibiza (+48.8%) and Kia Stonic (+68.5%) impressive below.
