Portugal October 2026: Dacia manages 1-2 with Sandero and Duster, Volvo EX30 up to #4

The Volvo EX30 is up to a record 4th place in Portugal in October.

Portuguese new car sales edge up 2.8% year-on-year in October to 16,595 units, bringing the year-to-date tally up 9.5% to 205,507. This month Dacia (-6.7%) takes the lead of the brands ranking for the third time ever after April 2023 and April 2024. It is however stuck in third place YTD. Just one unit below is Mercedes (-10.8%) followed by BMW (-2.9%). In fact, the Top 6 brands are all in negative, with Peugeot (-38%), Renault (-26.5%) and Volkswagen (-4.6%) in tow. Reversely Toyota (+55.4%), Kia (+12.7%), Volvo (+10.5%) and Citroen (+4.1%) are all in great shape in the remainder of the Top 10. After cracking the Top 20 last month, Leapmotor (+389.9%) surges to a record #13 in October. Meanwhile Tesla (+186.1%), #1 last month, is down to #15 but up spectacularly year-on-year.

Model-wise, Dacia manages a 1-2 with for the third time ever after April 2025 and August 2025 with the Sandero (+1.4%) in the lead followed by the Duster (-8.7%). The Peugeot 2008 (+4.5%) is back up two spots on last month to #3 and holds onto the YTD pole position. Excellent performance by the Volvo EX30 (+82.1%), reaching a record 4th place after breaking into the Top 10 for the first time in September. Leader last month, the Tesla Model 3 (+1663.2%) skyrockets year-on-year to rank at an exceptional (for a start of quarter) #5. #1 over the Full Year 2025, the Renault Clio (-47%) implodes to #6 and ranks #9 YTD. Outstanding month for the Mercedes GLC (+169.2%) up to #7 while the Cupra Raval breaks into the Top 10 at #10 and is the best-selling recent launch in the country.
