Iceland June 2026: Tesla Model Y distant leader, Leapmotor C10 and Hongqi E-HS5 break records
The Leapmotor C10 is up to a record #13 in Iceland in June.
New car sales in Iceland are hit full frontal in June at -28.6% year-on-year to just 1,439 units. As a result the year-to-date tally tilts into negative territory at -4.4% to 7,497. Tesla (+27.2%) goes against the falling market to soar to 16.3% share vs. 9.1% a year ago in June 2025. Tesla ascends to #2 year-to-date. Toyota (-26.4%) stays at #2 while last month’s and YTD leader Kia (-56.4%) implodes to #3. Skoda (+57.1%) delivers an outstanding score and is up 9 ranks on May to #4 while Suzuki (-23%) rounds out the Top 5. Smart (+1225%), BMW (+266.7%) and Xpeng (+120.7%) all post surreal gains in the remainder of the Top 10 with Mercedes (+33.3%) also strong.
Over in the models ranking, the Tesla Model Y is a distant leader at 13.1% share, followed by the Kia Sportage at 6.7%. The Sportage remains in the YTD lead for now. The Suzuki Vitara closes out the podium like in May ahead of the Mitsubishi Outlander. The Skoda Kamiq and Xpeng G6 reappear inside the Top 10 at #5 and #6 respectively, followed by the Tesla Model 3. Notice also the Smart #5 lodging its second ever Top 10 finish at #8, the Leapmotor C10 up to a record #13 and the Hongqi E-HS5 breaking into the Top 20 for the first time at #17.
