Germany private sales June 2026: Tesla Model Y distant leader, Leapmotor T03 in Top 10
The Leapmotor T03 is among the 10 best-selling cars with private buyers.
German private customers bought 108,474 new cars in June, up a fantastic 28.3% year-on-year. That’s a 36.6% Private Sales Ratio (PSR) vs. 33% a year ago in June 2025. Halfway through the year, German private sales are up 8.5% to 510,023 and 34.3% PSR vs. 33.5% over H1 2025. Volkswagen keeps the lead of the brands charts but due to a weak 26.2% PSR it only holds 12.3% of the privet sales market vs. 17.2% of overall sales. BMW is up two spots on May to #2, leapfrogging past Mercedes and Skoda. All these brands fail to match the market’s PSR. Tesla advances to #5 with 85% PSR, distancing Dacia at 68.9%.
Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y is a distant leader at 86.3% PSR, selling almost twice the amount of the #2, the BMW X1 (51.9% PSR). The Dacia Sandero (78.8% PSR) remains in third place while the Mini lineup (46.6%) is up six spots on May to #4. The VW ID.3 (62.9%) brilliantly rounds out the Top 5, outselling the VW Golf (24.7%) at #7. The VW T-Roc (31.5%) slides in between at #6, a ranking it also holds year-to-date vs. #1 over the Full Year 2025. The Leapmotor T03 (94.9%) surges into the Top 10 at #9. #1 last month, the Tesla Model 3 falls to #13 but still manages a strong 81.6% PSR. Notice also the Dacia Spring at #11 with 93.8% PSR.
