Russia April 2026: Jaecoo, Toyota, Belgee shine, Lada Iskra up to #7

The Lada Iskra breaks its ranking record at home in April.

Russian new car sales grow 15.1% year-on-year in April to 117,541 units, however once again this is partly due to a weak year-ago basis given April 2025 was down -25.5% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally after four months stands at 382,450, up 9.6% year-on-year. Local behemoth Lada (+11.8%) posts its first YoY gain since January 2025 and at 27.1% it is at its highest share since May 2025 vs. 25% year-to-date. Haval (+27.6%) delivers an excellent score and manages its highest monthly volume so far this year. As described last month, Tenet, a China-Russia joint venture assembling rebadged Chery vehicles at the ex-Volkswagen Kaluga plant, has stabilised around 10% share, grabbing 10.2% of the market this month. Jaecoo (+73.8%), Toyota (+70.1%) and Belgee (+47.1%) stand out below.

Model-wise, the Lada Granta (-4.1%) falls to 10.6% share vs. 12.7% a year ago, however this is its highest level since last August. The new Tenet T7 is back up to 2nd place with 6.5% share vs. 5.7% so far this year, pushing the Haval Jolion (+20.7%) down to #3. The Lada Vesta (-14.6%) continues to see its volume thaw year-on-year but is up to #4 YTD. Excellent performance by the Lada Niva Travel (+46.1%) at #5. The new Lada Iskra lodges its third ever Top 10 finish, up to a record #7.
