Indonesia April 2026: Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap back in charge, market up 57.8%

The Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap is the best-selling vehicle in Indonesia both in April and YTD.

Wholesales in Indonesia surge 57.8% year-on-year in April to 80,776 units, leading to a year-to-date tally is up 13% to 289,787. Retail sales are in similar health at +32.8% to 75,730 and up 10.8% year-to-date to 287,581. In the wholesales brands ranking, Toyota (+59.8%) evolves roughly like the market to 31.8% share, two percentage points above its YTD level. Daihatsu (+50.8%) stays at #2 while Suzuki (+72.7%) overtakes Mitsubishi (+36.7%) to #3. BYD (+32.3%) is back to the 5th spot it now also holds YTD. Newcomer Jaecoo is down one rank on last month to a still superb 7th place with 4% share. Retail-wise, Toyota (+23.6%) and Daihatsu (+25.5%) dominate also but BYD (+77.7%) surges to #3 overall with 8.3% share.

In the wholesales models ranking, the Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+283.3%) is up 4-fold year-on-year to score its 2nd ever win after last January. It is also #1 year-to-date, toppling the Toyota Kijang Innova (+1.7%), underperforming this month. The Suzuki New Carry Pikap (+142.4) is also in excellent shape at #3, distancing the Toyota Avanza (+34.5%) and a surging Toyota Veloz (+345%). Up to a surreal 2nd place last month, the new Jaecoo J5 is up to a still stunning 6th place and ranks #4 year-to-date. The Daihatsu Gran Max BV/MB (+363%) and Toyota Calya (+141.8%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10 while the BYD M6 (+96.7%) cracks this Top 10 for the 2nd time ever after October 2024.
