The Renault Captur is the best-selling vehicle in Portugal in February.
New car sales in Portugal surge 27.6% year-on-year in February to 20,511 units. This is a particularly good result given February 2023 was already up 39% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally is up 18% to 36,248. The brands podium is entirely French, with Peugeot (+17%) easily retaining the lead with 12.8% share. It distances Renault (+43.7%) up five spots on January to #2 and Citroen (+124.2%) up three to #3. At #4, Dacia (+91.5%) is also euphoric while Mercedes (+29.6%) and Tesla (+31.7%) also beat the market. Toyota (-10.6%) endures the only year-on-year loss in the Top 10. Below, Kia (+73.3%), Nissan (+45.9%) and Opel (+32.6%) all excel.
Model-wise, the Renault Captur (+132.1%) takes the lead for the second time in the past three month with 4.7% share and now ranks #3 year-to-date vs. #6 over the Full Year 2023. The Peugeot 2008 (+35%) is bumped down to #2 but retains the year-to-date pole position. The Tesla Model 3 (+340.5%) lodges another fantastic month at #3 distancing the Peugeot 308 (+189.2%), Citroen C3 (+144.4%) and Dacia Sandero (+49.8%) all scoring tremendous year-on-year gifts. The Nissan Juke (+205.7%) and Renault Clio (+75.2%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10.
