France H1 2023: Exclusive Top 20 private sales models – 4 Dacias in Top 10

The Dacia Jogger is inside the Top 10 models with private consumers.

Sales to private consumers account for less than half the French new car market over H1 2023. Private sales tend to reflect the most ‘honest’ best-sellers, shedding the somewhat artificial fleets and long+short term rental channels. The most striking element among this year’s best-selling models sold to private consumers is the presence of the entire Dacia range inside the Top 10. The Dacia Sandero is by far the preferred nameplate here, with almost 10,000 sales more than the #2 the Renault Clio. 83.4% of Sanderos sold over H1 2023 are to private customers.

For the Clio it’s only 41.8% and the Peugeot 208, at #3, just 35.9%. Dacia confirms it is strongly skewed towards private buyers by placing its entire range of 4 models inside the Top 10 vs. 2 Renaults and 2 Peugeots. The Duster ranks at #4 (85.1% private sales ratio PSR), the Spring at #6 (84.8% PSR) and the Jogger at #10 (83%). Other great performers with private consumers include the Tesla Model Y (69.2% PSR), Toyota Yaris Cross (71.1%) Ford Puma (69%), MG4 (87.6%) already up to #18 vs. #32 in the general ranking, the Tesla Model 3 (73.9%) and Renault Twingo (75.7%).
