Argentina July 2023: Fiat Cronos back to #1, VW Taos in Top 10
First Top 10 finish for the VW Taos in Argentina.
New light vehicles in Argentina climb a solid 14.1% year-on-year in July to 41,507 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 13.8% to 264,389. Toyota (+11.6%) continues to dominate the brands ranking head and shoulders with 22.7% share, distancing Volkswagen (+4.3%) at #2 and Renault (+22.4%) at #3. Fiat (-6.9%) remains stuck below its traditional level at 11.7% share and #4 vs. 13.7% and #2 so far this year. Ford (+64.9%) impresses in 6th place above Chevrolet (+1.5%) while Nissan (+63.2%) and Mercedes (+48.2%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Citroen (+10.4%) is more shy at #9.
After being toppled by the Peugeot 208 last month, the Fiat Cronos (+37.8%) reclaims the top spot of the models ranking in July with 10.1% share. The Peugeot 208 (+36.6%) retrogrades to 2nd place, a ranking it also holds year-to-date. The Toyota Hilux (+22.3%) and VW Amarok (+18.5%) also beat the market below as does the Toyota Etios (+48.6%). The Ford Ranger (+126.5%) lodges the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10, followed by the Renault Kangoo (+12.5%) and Toyota Corolla Cross (+4.2%) a little more subdued. This way the July Top 8 is identical to the YTD order. The VW Taos (+32.2%) breaks into the Top 10 for the first time.
