Danish new car sales plummet -20% year-on-year in 2022 to just 148,283 units. Volkswagen (-12.2%) improves its share from 10.5% to 11.6% while Toyota (-13.7%) climbs from 8% to 8.7% of the market. Mercedes (-0.9%) is almost stable and manages the best hold in the Top 15, rising two spots to #3 overall. Hyundai (-21.8%) is up two to #4 and Skoda (-13.6%) up five to #5. Audi (-29.3%) and Kia (-13.3%) are also up two ranks on their 2021 positions to #7 and #9 respectively. Peugeot (-38.5%), BMW (-35.6%) and Ford (-29.5%) all freefall.

Model-wise, the Peugeot 208 (-4.2%) bounces back up to the top spot it held in 2020 with 2.6% share in an increasingly fragmented market. This is the fifth time the 208 nameplate is #1 in Denmark after 2016,  2017, 2018 and 2020. The Ford Kuga (-36.1%) is edged down to #2 while the Citroen C3 (-40.5%) also loses one spot to #3. The Toyota Aygo X lands directly at a fantastic fourth spot even though it only launched in May. It topped the monthly charts in June, July and October. The Toyota Yaris (-34.4%) rounds out the Top 5 above the VW T-Roc (+14.9%), Hyundai i10 (-23.6%) and Mercedes C-Class (-0.1%). The Skoda Enyaq (+157.5%) surges 63 spots on 2021 to break into the Top 10 at #9. Note the December 2022 charts had the VW ID.4, ID.5 and Cupra Born at the top.
