Mexico November 2022: Nissan back in charge, market up 15.4%
Nissan is back to #1 brand in Mexico after four months at #2.
New light vehicle sales in Mexico soar 15.4% year-on-year in November to 95,568 units, however we are still very far from pre-pandemic levels as November 2019 totalled 124,819 sales. The year-to-date tally is now up 5.2% or almost 50,000 units to 965,198. After four month of exceptional domination by Chevrolet, Nissan (-2%) retakes the pole position it has held for the past 15 years and matches its YTD level at 14.9% vs. 15.1%. Chevrolet (+87.8%) continues to surge ahead and remains close at 14% share. Toyota (+25.1%) also beats the market and returns to the third place overall, overtaking Kia (+14.8%). Renault (+75.4%) is once again very impressive and up three spots on October to #5. MG (+108.6%) manages the largest gain in the Top 10 but is stuck at a record 6th place, 187 sales off a first stint into the Mexican Top 5. Hyundai (+38.2%) also shines at #8 while below, Ram (+151.3%) stands out again.
Over in the models ranking, the Kia Rio (+81.9%) holds onto the top spot, with the Nissan Pickup (+57.8%) and Nissan Versa (-28%) both gaining one rank on last month to #2 and #3 respectively. The Nissan Versa stays #2 year-to-date below the Kia Rio. #2 in October, the Chevrolet Onix (+8131.4%) drops to #4 but scores a surreal gain on microchip-impacted year-ago volumes. The MG 5 (+107.3%) breaks into the Mexican Top 5 for the 2nd time after reaching #4 last August, it distances the Nissan Sentra (-6.2%) and Chevrolet Captiva aka Baojun 530 (+44.2%). The rest of the Top 10 vastly outpace the market: the Mazda CX-5 is up 50.2%, the Nissan Kicks up 71.4% and the Kia Seltos up 41.4%.
