Finland November 2022: Polestar 2 up to #7, sales stuck at -3.7%

The Polestar 2 makes its first appearance inside the Finnish Top 10.

Whereas most of Europe is back in positive year-on-year territory, Finnish new car sales endure a -3.7% loss in November to just 6,328 units. This means 17 out of the last 18 months have been in negative. Through November, sales are down a steep -17.1% to 74,109. Toyota (+32.6%) goes completely against the market with a fantastic gain leading it to 19.6% share, well above its YTD level of 17.9%. Volvo (-10.7%) meanwhile loses share year-on-year but still evolves ahead of YTD at 11.2% share vs. 8.4% (ranked 5th). Skoda (+14.3%) is strong at #3, ensuring the podium is identical to last month. BMW (+26%) soars to 4th place overall with 7.7% of the market, distancing Volkswagen (-26.8%) and Kia (-34.1%) both in freefall. Despite the heavy loss, Volkswagen actually overtakes Kia in the YTD order to rank #2 overall. Citroen (+58.3%) and Audi (+15.8%) close out the Top 10 in very dynamic fashion while just below Tesla (+295.8%) quadruples its sales year-on-year.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Corolla (-9.3%) keeps the lead above a soaring Toyota Yaris (+113.8%) with both models atop the charts as they are year-to-date. The Volvo XC60 (-23.6%) stays at #3 but falls heavily year-on-year, yet it manages to gain two spots in the YTD ladder to #4. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+365.9%) advances to a record 4th place, eclipsing its previous best of #6 hit last May. The Volvo V60 (-16.4%) rounds out the Top 5 like last month and is followed by the Toyota RAV4 (+20.3%) making it four Toyotas in the Top 6. The Polestar 2 shoots up directly to #7, breaking into the Finnish Top 10 for the first time. The Tesla Model Y is back up to #10 with the Citroen C3 (+65.4%) and Skoda Enyaq (+65%) in great shape below.
