Bahrain 9 months 2022: Nissan Sunny topples Toyota Land Cruiser, sales off -16.9%
The Nissan Sunny is the best-selling vehicle in Bahrain so far in 2022.
New car sales in Bahrain fall a harsh -16.9% year-on-year over the first 9 months of 2022 to 15,256 units. Toyota (-28.4%) remains by far the most popular carmaker with 32.8% of the market and despite a hefty year-on-year drop. In contrast Nissan (-13.1%), Hyundai (-13.1%) and Isuzu (-11.2%) manage to keep their loss below the market rate. For its part MG (+19.4%) completely ignores the depleted market to score a double-digit year-on-year gain and climbs up three spots on its FY2021 ranking to crack the Top 5 at #5. Changan (+40.8%) does even better to break into the Top 10 brands at #9 while Mitsubishi (+20.5%) also shines at #7 vs. #9 over the FY2021. Chevrolet (+96%), Haval (+89.7%) and Genesis (+39.1%) all impress below. Audi, Bentley, Skoda and Volkswagen are now in the charts.
Over in the models ranking, the Nissan Sunny (+5.6%) topples an imploding Toyota Land Cruiser (-61.5%). If this ranking stands until the end of the year, the Sunny will end 8 consecutive years of Land Cruiser domination. The Isuzu TF (aka D-Max) drops -19% but remains in third place above the Toyota Hiace (-18.7%) and Toyota Corolla (-30.1%) all falling faster than the market. The rest of the Top 10 is 100% Toyota, with the Hilux (-4%), Camry (-4.3%) and RAV4 (-9.1%) resisting best year-on-year while the Prado (-12.9%) and Yaris (-35.6%) fall behind. Notice the Haval Jolion (+146.3%) up to #13 vs. #45 over the Full Year 2021, the Toyota Corolla Cross (+514.7%) gearing up to #16 vs. #50 over FY2021 and the MG ZS (+44.8%) up to #15 vs. #32. The Chevrolet Cruze aka Baojun 510 is the most popular recent launch at #25, distancing the Toyota Raize (#32) and MG GT (#34).
