Brazil August 2022: Market surges +22.5%, Fiat Strada back to #1
The Fiat Strada is the best-selling vehicle in Brazil in August.
New light vehicle sales in Brazil rally up 22.5% year-on-year in August to 194,142 unit, the largest August tally since the 230,718 sales of August 2019. Volkswagen (+40.1%) is up one spot on July to #2 while Chevrolet (+241.3%) compensates for a particularly weak month in August 2021. Hyundai (+22.7%) matches the market at #4, overtaking a struggling Toyota (-11.6%). Peugeot (+76%) and Renault (+52.3%) also beat the market growth whereas Nissan (+7%) posts a timid gain but Jeep (-8.9%) and moist strikingly Honda (-49.5%) break down.
Model-wise, the Fiat Strada (+55.4%) reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date with 7.3% share vs. 6.3% so far this year. The VW Gol (+187.1%) remains in outstanding shape at #2 and climbs to #4 year-to-date. The Hyundai HB20 (+60.7%) also outpaces the market at #3. Reduced to crumbs a year ago when production stopped due to the microchip and parts shortage, the Chevrolet Onix (+2295.4%) and Onix Plus (+3258.8%) close out the Top 5. The Chevrolet Tracker (+418.8%) is in the same position while the Renault Kwid (+81.4%) sports an excellent uptick, as does the VW Voyage (+249.1%) just outside the Top 10. The Fiat Pulse remains the best-selling recent launch but drops 6 spots on last month to #14.
