Taiwan July 2022: Honda HR-V up to #4 in stable market (+0.3%)

Honda HR-V is up 4-fold year-on-year in July.

New car sales in Tawain are stable year-on-year at +0.3% to 38,192 units, however due to a poor start of the year the year-to-date tally remains down at -7.1% and 241,343 sales. The entire brands podium vastly outpaces the market with double-digit gains: Toyota is up 12.8% to 30.4% share vs. 29.9% so far this year, Honda soars 16.7% to 7.7% share vs. 6.8% and Nissan (+10.6%) rallies back up 6 spots on June to #3 and 6% share vs. 5.8%. Mitsubishi (+22.5%) and CMC (+5.3%) are the only additional gainers in the remainder of the Top 10 with Mercedes (-31.2%), Mazda (-18%) and Lexus (-12.3%) struggling and BMW (-2.2%) holding up well.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross (+23.6%) remains ultra dominant, selling 2.7 times any other nameplate in the country and reaching 10.6% share vs. 9.4% so far this year. The CMC Veryca (+1.1%) stays in 2nd place above the Toyota Corolla Altis (+0.1%). The Honda HR-V (+333.7%) is up 13 spots on June to 4th place and 3.7% share vs. 1% year-to-date while the Nissan Kicks (+48.6%) also has a very strong month in 5th place. The Ford Focus (+24.7%) and Toyota Yaris (+20.5%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 just as the Toyota Town Ace drops 3 ranks to #10.
