Belgium July 2022: BMW #1 again, Peugeot (+88.4%), Citroen (+53.6%) defy market down -5.2%

Peugeot sales almost double year-on-year in Belgium.

26,161 new cars found a home in Belgium in July, a -5.2% year-on-year contraction while July 2021 was already down -38% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally now stands at 221,548 units, down -14.8% over the same period last year. BMW (-0.5%) is stable to hold onto the brands pole position for the 6th consecutive month. In 2nd place like last month, Peugeot surges 88.4% year-on-year to hit 9% share vs. 8.2% so far this year. In fact the entire Top 6 brands come in the same order as in June. Volkswagen (-12.4%) loses share year-on-year to #3, Mercedes (-5.2%) exactly matches the market, Audi (-35.7%) freefalls and Toyota (+24.7%) manages a splendid uptick. Not as impressive as Citroen (+53.6%), with Dacia (+1.9%) up two spots on last month to #8 and Kia (+22.1%) staying at #9. Opel (-11.4%) is weak and closes out the Top 10. Below, MG (+121.7%), DS (+88%), Ssangyong (+62.2%) and Cupra (+27.1%) stand out.
