Turkey May 2022: Opel (+90.5%), Dacia (+68%) stand out in market up a strong 19.1%

Dacia sales shoot up in Turkey in May.

The Turkish new light vehicle market is up 19.1% year-on-year in May to 65,167 registrations, this is the largest May tally since 2018 when 72.755 units were sold. Yet a paltry start of the year (notably -33.4% in March) keeps the year-to-date volume down -11.4% to 277,252. Fiat (+31.3%) signs its best market share since last October at 20.2%, reclaiming the top spot it holds YTD off Renault (+37.4%) also in outstanding shape year-on-year. Volkswagen (+2.8%) is way too shy but the next five carmakers all outpace the market: Ford (+21.8%), Toyota (+29.3%), Opel (+90.5%), Hyundai (+57.5%) and Dacia (+68%) all have reason to smile this month. It’s not the case for Honda (-17.2%) and Peugeot (-36%) rounding out the Top 10. Audi (+37.7%), Kia (+19.2%), Nissan (+89.4%), BMW (+25.1%), Volvo (+59%), Iveco (+118.1%) and Cupra (+1264.7%) all shine further down.
