New car sales in Ukraine gain a splendid 20.8% year-on-year in Ukraine to 103,245 units. This volume accounts for roughly half of the pre-Crimean crisis level of 213.000 sales in 2013 while the all-time annual volume record remains 623.000 in 2008. We have a change of leadership in the brands ranking: Toyota (+14.4%) overtakes Renault (-6.2%) even though it trails the market and sees its share fall from 15.6% to 14.8%. As for Renault, it goes from 16.8% last year to 13.1%. Chery (+135.7%) is by far the best performing manufacturer in the Top 10, gaining 8 spots to land at #7 overall. Mitsubishi (+75.8%) is also very impressive while Suzuki (+27.1%), Nissan (+25.6%) and Skoda (+22%) also outpace the market but Hyundai (+19%) and Volkswagen (+11.7%) aren’t that lucky. Notice Lada (+167.6%), JAC (+87.1%), Opel (+57%), BMW (+42.4%), Haval (+28.5%) and Volvo (+26.3%) among the carmakers making waves further down.
Over in the models ranking, the Kia Sportage (+41.3%) rallies back up two spots to reclaim the pole position for the 4th time in the past 6 years after 2016, 2017 and 2019. The Sportage sells over 1,000 units more than the #2, the Toyota RAV4 (+6.6%) leader last year. The Renault Duster (+1.2%) is also knocked down one spot to #3 whereas the Renault Sandero (+3.4%) is up one to #4. The Toyota Prado (-0.3%) brilliantly rounds out the Top 5 above the Renault Logan (-34.4%) in difficulty. The Mitsubishi Outlander (+88.9%), Toyota Camry (+36.4%) and Nissan Qashqai (+28.8%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10 while just below, the Chery Tiggo 4 (+1138.5%) is up 93 ranks to #12 for its first full year of sales in the country. The Kia Rio X (#38) is the most successful 2021 launch ahead of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro (#56) and Hyundai Venue (#72).
