Ukraine April 2018: New gen propels Renault Duster to pole position

The Ukrainian new car market is back in positive territory in April at +6.2% year-on-year to 6.844 units, the highest score for the month since 2014 (7.754). The year-to-date volume is now up 11.7% to 26.141, once again at its highest since 2014 (45.808). The two best-selling brands however lose ground this month: Toyota drops 5% to 12.4% share and Renault drops 12% to 9.9%. In contrast, the remainder of the Top 6 all post spectacular gains, led by Volkswagen (+70%), and Audi (+64%) with Nissan (+54%) and Hyundai (+26%) also impressive. Further down, notice Honda (+393%), Seat (+317%), Chery (+310%), Geely (+269%), Lexus (+90%), Ravon (+70%), Subaru (+53%), Mazda (+44%) and Infiniti (+42%). Over in the models ranking, we witness the fist appearance of the new generation Duster with Renault branding, up 20% year-on-year and three spots on March to snap the pole position. The US-born Audi A3 clings to the 2nd place just as the VW Golf sinks from #1 last month to #15. More on the success of emissions scandal discarded US-made models in Ukraine here. The Toyota RAV4 holds onto the third spot and tanks to the new generation also, the VW Polo surges 189% to #4 while the Toyota Camry (+18%) rounds up the Top 5. The Mazda CX-5 (+132%), Ravon R2 (+70%) and Hyundai Tucson (+25%) also shine in the Top 10.
