Ukraine October 2021: Chery up to record 4th place, sales dip -5.6%

Chery breaks into the Ukrainian Top 5 for the first time in October.

New car sales in Ukraine drop -5.6% year-on-year in October to 7,965 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 22.7% to 84,064 units. Toyota (-8.9%) repeats at #1 in the brands ranking with 15.6% share ahead of Renault (-35.3%) and Kia (-19.5%) both in great difficulty. In contrast Chery (+145.2%) is up four spots on September to land its first ever Top 5 finish in Ukraine at #4 overall with 6.1% share. Mitsubishi (+303.5%) is up 4-fold year-on-year and one rank on last month to #5, distancing Hyundai (+23%) also solid. Suzuki (+114.5%) and Mercedes (+37.6%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Lada (+68.1%), Opel (+68.1%), Haval (+50%), Volvo (+33.6%), Fiat (+30%), BMW (+27.1%) and Mazda (+23.8%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Kia Sportage (-41.2%) retains the top spot despite a ghastly drop, even snapping the YTD pole position in the process. The Renault Duster (-22.4%) is up one spot to #2, toppling the Toyota RAV4 (-38.7%) while the Renault Sandero (-22.2%) remains in 4th place. The Chery Tiggo 4 (+542.1%) is up 6-fold year-on-year and 8 spots on September to crack the Ukrainian Top 5 for the first time at #5. The Mitsubishi Outlander (+548.8%), Suzuki SX4 (+381.8%), Toyota Corolla (+132.6%) and Camry (+108.6%) also post surreal gains in the remainder of the Top 10.
