New Caledonia (France) August 2021: Hyundai Grand i10 and Dongfeng Joyear X5 shine in market up 19.9%

New Caledonia is a French archipelago located north-east of Australia. Its new light vehicle market is up a very satisfying 19.9% year-on-year in August to 873 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 11.9% to 5.721. Toyota (-10.7%) easily keeps the brands lead with 11.5% share and despite a sizeable loss. Below, Hyundai (+52.9%) and Ford (+87.5%) both surge ahead to 8.9% and 8.6% share respectively whereas Dacia (-3%) is down two spots on July to #4. Citroen (+77.8%), Nissan (+47.4%) and Kia (+37.8%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 while at the other end of the scale Peugeot (-23.8%) and Mitsubishi (-11.8%) suffer and Renault (+4%) only edges up. Notice also MG (+86.7%) scoring the second largest gain in the Top 15, Dongfeng up two ranks to #12 and Land Rover soaring +400%.
Over in the models ranking, the Dacia Duster (-18.2%) is back to first place, toppling the Toyota Hilux (+17.1%) while the Ford Ranger (+66.7%) makes it two pickups on the podium as it is also the case year-to-date. The Hyundai Grand i10 surges from outside the July Top 20 directly into 4th position ahead of the Nissan Navara (+47.4%). The Dongfeng Joyear X5 is up five spots to a splendid 6th place with the Hyundai Creta (+950%) and Ford Puma (+150%) both post surreal gains. Below the Kia K2700 (+20%), the MG ZS (+63.6%) scores a second Top 10 finish in the past 4 months.
