Greece July 2021: Toyota Yaris and Citroen C3 top market up 11.2%

Greek new car sales are up 11.2% year-on-year in July to 10.586 units, bringing the year-to-date tally up 49.6% to 68.948. However July 2021 volumes return below pre-pandemic levels at -9.7% on July 2019. Toyota (+25.9%) outpaces the market to easily retain the brands top spot with 14.7% share vs. 12.7% so far this year. In fact the entire podium outruns the market with Peugeot (+20.3%) and Hyundai (+36.1%) in tow. Volkswagen (-12.1%) on the other hand underperforms with a double-digit loss just as all remaining Top 10 brands grow faster than the market, starting with Suzuki (+86.4%), Citroen (+50.9%), Kia (+43.3%) and Seat (+32.8%) but also including BMW (+23.2%) and Mercedes (+12%). Further down, Mazda (+164%), Dacia (+93.7%), Lexus (+57.1%) and Jeep (+53.7%) stand out.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Yaris (+1%) trails the market but returns to the pole position it had year-to-date. It is followed by the Citroen C3 (+209%) tripling its sales year-on-year and up 11 spots on June to #2 overall, while at #3 the Peugeot 2008 (+28%) scores its second ever podium after last November (#2). Meanwhile the Peugeot 3008 (+69.4%) shoots up 17 ranks on last month to land at #4, the Kia Stonic (+67%) repeats at a record 5th place and the Toyota Corolla (+115.2%) lurches up 28 spots to #6. The Suzuki Swift (+99.1%) and Toyota Aygo (+69.1%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Just below, the Suzuki Ignis (+301.8%), Peugeot 108 (+123.1%), Nissan Micra (+120.2%) and Hyundai i30 (+112.5%) impress. The Hyundai Bayon is up 59 spots to #41 and becomes the best-selling recent launch in Greece, distancing the Opel Mokka (#47), Citroen C4 (#70), Skoda Enyaq (#77) and VW ID.3 (#84).
