Slovenia April 2021: VW T-Cross wins for the 2nd time ever in market up 131.9%

The VW T-Cross is #1 in Slovenia in April.

The Slovenian new car market shoots up 131.9% year-on-year in April to 4.281 sales, lifting the year-to-date volume up 25.8% to 20.572. Note April 2021 volumes remain markedly down on the pre-pandemic levels of two years ago at -33.6% vs. April 2019 (6.446). Volkswagen (+161.7%) retains the brands top spot with 16.4% share, in line with its YTD level of 16.2%. Skoda (+225.8%) and Peugeot (+228%) outpace the market by a significant margin to close out the podium whereas Renault (-40%) goes against the grain with a steep fall vs. an exceptionally high year-ago month when it held a record 32.3% share. All remaining Top 10 brands beat the market, with Nissan (+550%), Seat (+550%), Citroen (+340.7%) and Kia (+329.2%) the most dynamic.

In the models ranking, the VW T-Cross (+426.5%) signs a second ever win in Slovenia after September 2019, holding 4.2% of the market vs. 3.1% year-to-date where it ranks #3. The Skoda Octavia (+358.1%) is also in great shape at #2 while the Renault Clio (-58.2%) implodes at #3 but remains the year-to-date leader. The Peugeot 208 (+316.1%) is up 9 spots on March to #4, distancing the VW T-Roc (+370.4%) and Skoda Kamiq (+311.5%) also posting splendid year-on-year gains. The Skoda Karoq (+395%) and Kodiaq (+390%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10, making it four Skodas among the ten most successful vehicles in Slovenia for the month. Notice also the Nissan Juke (+3166.7%) shooting up 19 spots on March to land at #11.
