Argentina January 2021: Toyota (+79.8%), Fiat (+44.5%) headline market up 10.6%

The Fiat Cronos is up 300.9% year-on-year in January.

New vehicle sales in Argentina gain 10.6% year-on-year in January to 49.438 units. Traditional brand leader Volkswagen (-5%) is toppled this month: Toyota (+79.8%) and Fiat (+44.5%) surge to #1 and #2 respectively with 19.3% and 14.3% share, levels way above their FY2020 shares of 12.7% and 11%. The rest of the Top 6 is in negative: Renault (-1.9%), Ford (-3.7%) and Chevrolet (-3.8%) all struggle but Peugeot (+46.6%) and Citroen (+15.1%) also shine further down the Top 10. Below, notice DS (+67.3%), Hyundai (+59.5%), Iveco (+45.7%) and Dongfeng (29.6%) all posting fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 25.

Model-wise, the entire Top 8 posts at least double-digit gains, with the Fiat Cronos (+300.9%) up 4-fold year-on-year to break its share record at 10.6%. The Toyota Hilux (+39.8%) and Peugeot 208 (+126.6%) follow, with the VW Amarok (+67%), Ford Ranger (+47%), Toyota Corolla (+136.5%), Yaris (+115.2%) and Etios (+79.9%) in tow. The VW Nivus is the best-selling new launch at #25, ahead of the Renault Alaskan (#30) and Ford Territory (#50).
