Hong Kong (China) July 2020: Subaru (+104.7%), Honda (+86.3%), Lexus (+45.5%) can’t prevent another sales drop (-9.3%)
Subaru sales in Hong Kong more than double year-on-year in Jul. .
The Hong Kong new light vehicle market ends a streak of six consecutive months of double-digit declines in August but still drops -9.3% year-on-year to 3.086. This means the year-to-date tally is now down -33.8% to 14.985. Toyota (-26.3%) remains by far the most popular carmaker in the territory but its share thaws to 28.4% vs. 32.9% so far this year. Honda surges 86.3% to 18% share vs. 16.6% YTD while Mercedes (-3.9%), BMW (-22.4%) and Nissan (+28.4%) ensure the August Top 5 is identical to the YTD order. Below, Subaru (+104.7%), Lexus (+45.5%), Kia (+23.6%) and Suzuki (+17.5%) all post fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10 while Dongfeng (+1100%), Smart (+250%), Tesla (+250%), Bentley (+50%), Volvo (+45.8%), Mitsubishi (+30.8%) and Maserati (+13.3%) shine further down.
