Slovakia Full Year 2019: Skoda Fabia repeats at #1, Scala in Top 10 in record market (+3.6%)

New car sales in Slovakia enjoy a 6th consecutive year of gains in 2019 at +3.6% to 101.568 units, which is according to our records the first ever six-digit annual volume in Slovak history. Skoda (+4.4%) just outpaces the market to reach 19.9% share, well above Volkswagen (+2.1%) at 8.7%. In fact the Top 8 brands are unchanged on 2018 with Dacia (+21.5%), Kia (+20.8%), Hyundai (+15.4%), Citroen (+9.9%) and Toyota (+9.3%) the most dynamic. Further down, Lada (+56.9%), Porsche (+51.1%), Mazda (+18%) and Volvo (+13.7%) stand out. Model-wise, the Skoda Fabia (+0.1%) signs a 2nd consecutive win and 5th win in the past 8 years, holding off the Skoda Octavia (+2%). The Kia Cee’d (+32.3%) leapfrogs past the Hyundai i30 (+15.8%) and Skoda Rapid to land on the third step of the podium while the Dacia Duster (+59.8%) goes from outside the 2018 Top 10 to inside the 2019 Top 5. The Skoda Kodiaq (+49.8%) also breaks into the annual Slovak Top 10 for the first time while the Skoda Scala, launched this year, directly lands at #10.
