The Serbian new car market continues to progress in 2019, up 4% year-on-year to 34.412 units according to our Eastern European partner CE Auto, up 11.3% to 34.202 according to local publication Vrele Gume. Skoda (+45.7%) spectacularly overtakes Fiat (+24.5%) –  itself in outstanding shape – to take control of the brands ranking with 17.2% share vs. 16% for the Italian carmaker. The rest of the Top 6 remains unchanged with Volkswagen (-12%) rounding out the podium above Renault (+0.3%), Dacia (+14%) and Opel (+1.7%). Hyundai (+46.4%), Citroen (+31.2%) and Toyota (+22.1%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, Isuzu (+436.4%), Lexus (+142.9%), Jaguar (+122.8%), Mitsubishi (+93.2%), Seat (+45.4%), Volvo (+28.6%), Porsche (+20.9%), Nissan (+13.9%), Jeep (+12.3%) and BMW (+10.3%) stand out.

The Skoda Octavia (-6.4%) and Fabia (+6.2%) reprise their 2018 positions atop the Serbian charts, while the Fiat Tipo (+64.3%) is the hero of the year, leaping from #9 in 2018 to the third step of the podium in 2019. The Dacia Sandero (+0.8%) edges up one spot to #4 and is followed this year by the Fiat 500 and Doblo, new entrants in the annual Top 10. Once the uncontested leader in Serbia (in 2013 and from 2015 to 2017), the Fiat 500L (-28.3%) continues to freefall, down 4 spots to #7 in 2019, this despite a monthly win in November, the first in 18 months.
