Morocco July 2019: Opel, VW, Citroen impress in market down -6.5%

Volkswagen sales gain 11.9% in July in a market down -6.5%.

After a pause in June (-0.03%), the Moroccan new light vehicle market resumes its fall in July at -6.5% year-on-year to 13.050 units as a continued push by light commercial vehicles (up 25.8% to 1.444) once again fails to compensate for freefalling passenger cars sales (down -9.3% to 11.606). This means the YTD volume is now down -18.4% to 93.783 units with PC sales down -13.1% and LCV deliveries up 22.9%. In the PC brands ranking, Dacia (-21%) is hit hard but easily remains the best-seller, outselling #2 Renault (+3.9%) by a rate of almost 3 to 1. Peugeot (+7.7%) and Volkswagen (+11.9%) surge ahead to reclaim their FY2018 rankings at #3 and #4 respectively. Opel (+121.1%) and Citroen (+11%) continue to impress whereas Fiat (-43.2%), Ford (-37.1%) and Toyota (-9%) fall faster than the market.
