Bulgaria May 2019: Police order lifts Skoda (+79%) to pole position in market up 28.3%

A Police order of 346 Rapid means Skoda is the best-selling carmaker in Bulgaria in May.

New car sales in Bulgaria continue to gallop ahead with May up a brilliant 28.3% to 4.538 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 10.9% to 18.980. Skoda (+79%) is lifted by the delivery of a Police order of 346 Rapid and takes the overall lead with 14.1% share vs. 9.9% so far this year. This is the second time in the past 18 months that Skoda is the most popular brand in Bulgaria after July 2018. Nissan (+96.2%) also shines, up 5 spots on April to #3, as do Opel (+193.5%), Peugeot (+81.7%), Volkswagen (+58.6%) and Toyota (+43.2%). In contrast, Kia (-35.9%) freefalls while Renault (+0.6%), Dacia (+8.4%) and Ford (+10%) underperform. Below, Infiniti (+170%), BMW (+120.7%), Mercedes (+47.6%) and Suzuki (+36.7%) are also in outstanding shape.
