Greece January 2019: Opel Corsa and Peugeot 308 impress in market up 3.7%

Sales of Peugeot 308 in Greece are up 12-fold year-on-year in January.

Solid start of the year for Greek new car sales at +3.7% to 9.210 units. Brand leader Toyota (-5.4%) isn’t surfing on the positive wave but remains in the lead at 12.5%, even though Peugeot (+10.6%), Opel (+10.3%) and most strikingly Hyundai (+39.2%) are catching up fast. Dacia (+111.9%), BMW (+46%), Citroen (+30.2%), Audi (+18.2%), Renault (+14.4%) and Fiat (+12.9%) also impress further down. The Toyota Yaris (-10.9%), leader in Greece for the past 6 consecutive years, remains in the lead despite a steep fall, outpacing the Opel Corsa (+57.9%) up 8 spots on December to #2, the Nissan Qashqai (-6.5%) and Peugeot 208 (-34.2%). The VW Polo (+40.5%) is up 6 ranks on last month to #5, the Citroen C3 (+46.3%) down 3 to #6 and the Peugeot 308 (up 12-fold) up 42 to #7. The Dacia Duster (+297.7%), Fiat Tipo (+128.2%), Toyota Aygo (+59.4%), Audi A3 (+36.3%), Peugeot 3008 (+36.3%), Toyota C-HR (+27.3%) and Suzuki Vitara (+26.5%) also make waves in the remainder of the Top 20 just as the Hyundai Kona (#25) tops recent launches (<12 months) ahead of the Volvo XC40 (#47), BMW X2 (#61) and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (#99).
