Wales (UK) Full Year 2018: Ford Ecosport up to #7, MG ZS scores four monthly Top 10 finishes

First annual Top 10 finish in Wales for the Ford Ecosport.

Consult 6 years of Wales Historical data here.

Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you today December and Full Year 2018 Scottish registrations. Keep in mind this is only a zoom in by UK nation, all sales figures are already included in the UK Full Year 2018 update. Alongside Northern Ireland, Wales is the UK nation resisting best in 2018 at -3.4% to 79.936 registrations. The Ford Fiesta (-3.1%) is just unbeatable here at 6.3% share, more than twice the score of the #2, the Ford Kuga (-0.4%) overtaking the Ford Focus (-19.1%). The VW Polo (-5%) is up one spot to #4, the Vauxhall Corsa (+7.9%) up three to #5, both leapfrogging past the VW Golf (-16%).

The MG ZS peaked at #4 in November.

The Ford Ecosport scores its very first annual Top 10 in any UK nation at #7, peaking at #2 in November, but the most striking 2018 development in Wales may well be the presence of the MG ZS within its Top 10, not once but four times: #10 in July, #7 in October, #4 in November and #8 in December. Wales is the first UK nation to welcome a Chinese MG into its monthly Top 10. Other nameplates making their first foray into the Welsh monthly Top 10 this year are the Peugeot 3008 (#9 in April), Suzuki Vitara (#4 in July and #6 in August), Kia Picanto (#6 in July and #8 in August), Suzuki Swift (#9 in July and #5 in August), Suzuki Celerio (#4 in August), VW Tiguan (#3 in October), Peugeot 2008 (#5 in October), VW T-Roc (#9 in November) and Dacia Duster (#10 in December).
