UK nations January 2019: Dacia Duster posts 2nd consecutive inaugural Top 10

One month after breaking into the Welsh monthly Top 10 for the first time, the Dacia Duster achieves the same feat in Scotland.

Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for all UK nations in January. Keep in mind this is a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are included in the January 2019 UK update. Scotland (+9.6%) spectacularly stands out, just missing out on a double-digit year-on-year gain at 11.948 registrations when Wales (+0.09%) is the only other UK nation in positive at 5.338 units, England (-2.2%) is below the national average (-1.5%) at 137.738 and Northern Ireland (-6.4%) sinks to 5.660 sales.

The Ford Fiesta tops 3 nations out of 4: England, Scotland and Wales and ranks #2 in Northern Ireland where the VW Golf is the best-seller this month and for the 7th time in the past two years after February, May, June, July, August and October 2017 as well as April 2018. Other podium finishers are the Nissan Qashqai (#2 in England), Ford Focus (#2 in Scotland, #3 in England and Wales), Vauxhall Corsa (#3 in Scotland) and Hyundai Tucson (#3 in Northern Ireland).

Great performers this month include the Seat Ibiza up 39.1% to #4 in Northern Ireland, its highest ranking there since September 2016, the Toyota Aygo up to #4 in Scotland, its third Top 10 finish there in the past year after March (#10) and October 2018 (#2), also ranking #10 in Wales which is ist first Top 10 finish since September, the Mercedes A-Class at #4 in England vs. #5 in the UK overall, the VW T-Roc posting a 4th consecutive Top 10 finish in Scotland at #7, the Dacia Duster cracking the Scottish Top 10 for the very first time (#8) only one month after having done the same in Wales (#10), the Toyota C-HR up to #8 in Northern Ireland, its 2nd ever Top 10 finish there (and in any nation) after last August (#8) and the Toyota Yaris up to #8 in England, its highest ever ranking there and only its 2nd ever Top 10 finish after March 2014 (#10).
