Netherlands July 2018: VW Polo leads, Renault Clio and Captur up

The Renault Captur sees its sales jump 122% year-on-year in July.

New car sales in the Netherlands gain 10.8% year-on-year in July to 36.263 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 11.7% to 289.302 units. Volkswagen surges 30% to 14.5% share, way above the 11.8% it commands YTD, but it’s Renault (+74%) in 2nd place that posts the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10. Opel (+2%), Peugeot (+6%) and Kia (+20%) round up the Top 5 with Tesla (+205%), Jeep (+148%), Subaru (+141%), Dacia (+82%), Porsche (+82%), Nissan (+81%), Honda (+43%), Volvo (+36%), Jaguar (+32%) and Suzuki (+23%) also impressive further down. Model-wise, the VW Polo (+14%) marks 4 consecutive months in pole position, cementing its YTD leadership at 3.4% share (+46%). The Renault Clio (+56%) and Captur (+122%) complete the podium while the VW Tiguan (+68%), Renault Megane (+61%) also shine in the Top 10 while the Kia Niro (+52%) breaks into the Dutch Top 10 for the very first time at #10. Volkswagen places 4 nameplates in the Top 7, adding the Golf (#5) and Up (#6). The top 4 all-new models all break their ranking record this month: the VW T-Roc hits #16 (previous best #20 last May), the Opel Grandland X is up to #17 (pb #30 last May), the Volvo XC40 leaps to #20 (pb #40 last month) and the Hyundai Kona climbs to #61 (pb #65 last April).
