Oman November 2017: Toyota holds 54% share in market down 13.9%

New car sales in Oman are down a harsh 13.9% year-on-year in November to 11.050 units, pulling the year-to-date tally down 4.4% to 133.067 registrations. Toyota tightens its stranglehold on the Omani market with an incredible 54% share this month (vs. 48.8% year-to-date) thanks to deliveries up 8% on November 2016. That’s almost four times the #2, Nissan down 38% to 14.2%. Hyundai (-30%) rounds up the podium while Lexus goes agains the grain with a stunning 35% gain to 5.9% share in 4th place, outpacing Kia (-29%), Isuzu (-45%), Mazda (-10%) and Mitsubishi (-31%). Chevrolet (+1%), Subaru (+33%) and Infiniti (+106%) are among the rare carmakers registering a year-on-year uplift.

The Geely GC6 tops all recent launches in Oman this month.

Model-wise, 11 of the Top 13 best-selling nameplates belong to Toyota Motor, with the Hilux in the lead at 11.4% share despite a 4% drop, ahead of the YTD leader the Land Cruiser at 9% (+34%) and the Land Cruiser Pickup at 7.9% (-8%). The Nissan Patrol (#4) is the best-selling non-Toyota model in Oman this month but freefalls 49% year-on-year. The Toyota Fortuner (+157%), Corolla (+116%), Prado (-67%), Yaris (+133%) and Hiace (+57%) follow. The Nissan Sunny is up 167% to #10, the Lexus LX up 31% to #11 and the Toyota Camry up 40% to #12. The Geely GC6 (#47) and Nissan Kicks (#50) are the only two recent launches (<12 months) inside the Top 50.
