New car sales in Hungary continue to gallop ahead in July with a splendid 15.8% year-on-year surge to 9.336 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 18.7% to 64.138 units. Market leader Suzuki vastly outpaces its “home” market (Suzukis are manufactured in Hungary) with a 40% year-on-year lift to 14.4% share vs. 12.7% year-to-date. Opel (+1%) and Skoda (+18%) both bypass Ford (-10%) while Toyota (+71%) and Dacia (+63%) post the largest year-on-year gains in the Top 10. Nissan (+30%) also shines but slips out of the Top 10 due to the arrival of Hyundai (#8). In the models ranking, the Suzuki Vitara (+32%) and Skoda Octavia (+8%) remain on top and are joined this month on the podium by the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross. This is only the second time the S-Cross manages to rank #3 in Hungary after September 2017. The Dacia Duster is up 60% to #5, the Fat 500 up 36% to #8 and the Hyundai Tucson makes a rare appearance inside the Hungarian Top 10 at #10.
