Romania June 2017: Dacia up 109%, Logan up 163% in market up 47%

The Romanian new car market displays explosive growth in June at +47% year-on-year to 8.030 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 27% to 45.008 units. Homegrown market leader Dacia recovers spectacularly from a very paltry result in June 2016, with sales up 109% year-on-year to 26.1% share, as does Volkswagen up 84% to 10.1% share. Ford follows the market at +46% but Renault is in great difficulty at -14% to 4th place as is Skoda down 3% to 6.7%. Opel (+53%), Hyundai (+77%), Toyota (+86%) and Suzuki (+105%) also beat the market inside the Top 10, while further down Nissan (+97%), Fiat (+107%), Seat (+188%), Honda (+81%) and Porsche (+79%) are among the most dynamic. In the models ranking, the Dacia Logan rallies back up 163% to 16.3% share, signing a 154th consecutive p[ole position. In fact, all Top six best-sellers more than double their sales compared to June 2016 and the Top seven beat market growth: the Dacia Duster is up 108%, the VW Golf up 214%, the Renault Megane up 658%, Dacia Sandero up 172%, Ford Fiesta up 118 and the Opel Astra up 81%. Further down, notice the Ford Kuga is up 282%, the Hyundai i20 up 140%, the VW Tiguan up 305% and the Toyota Yaris up 204%.
