Czech Republic June 2017: Dacia up 54%, H1 market up 8.8% to all-time record

Nothing can stop the Czech new car market this year, up another 3.6% year-on-year in June to 26.634 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 8.8% to an all-time record 144.451 units in six months. Homegrown market leader Skoda beats its home market with a 7% gain to 32.1% share vs. 31.3% so far this year. Hyundai stuns, up two spots on May to land in 2nd place thanks to deliveries up 6% to 9.2% share, overtaking Volkswagen (-9%) and Ford (-16%). in 4th place, Dacia manages no less than the largest year-on-year increase inside the Top 25 at +54% to 6.3% share vs. 5.2% in 2017. Mercedes (+21%), Peugeot (+20%), Toyota (+35%), Mazda (+19%), Volvo (+47%), Subaru (+26%), Alfa Romeo (+144%) and Lada (+114%) also shine. Toppled by its smaller stablemate the Skoda Fabia in May, the Skoda Octavia reclaims the top spot it holds year-to-date in June despite deliveries down 8% vs. +16% for the Fabia (#2) and +20% for the Rapid (#3). The Skoda Superb tumbles down 21% year-on-year but stays in 4th place, distancing the Hyundai i30 (-13%) and VW Golf (+5%), the two best-selling foreigners in the Czech Republic this month. The Skoda Yeti (+19%), Hyundai Tucson (+39%) and Dacia Sandero (+126%) also impress in the Top 10, while the Skoda Kodiaq slips out of it at #11. The only other recent launch (<12 months) in the Top 100 is the Opel Crossland X (#93).
