Excellent month for new vehicle sales in Thailand at +15.1% year-on-year in April to 63.267 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 15.7% to 273.757. Market leader Toyota outpaces the market with a 20% gain to 28.1% share, distancing Isuzu (+1%) and Honda (-8%) both underperforming. Below, a series of five manufacturers all frankly beat the market: Mitsubishi (+36%), Mazda (+22%), Nissan (+41%), Ford (+47%) and Chevrolet (+41%). Further down, Mercedes (+67%), MG (+40%), BMW (+49%), Volvo (+137%) and Kia (+149%) all impress.

Model-wise, after losing the annual top spot in 2016 for a mere 400 sales, the Isuzu D-Max dominates the Toyota Hilux head and shoulders so far in 2017: 9.968 sales in April vs. 7.302 for the Hilux and 45.343 year-to-date vs. 35.251. The Ford Ranger (+46%) climbs onto the third step of the podium which becomes 100% pickup truck this month as well as year-to-date. There are even four pickups in the Top 5 with the Triton in 5th place (+112%). The Honda City (+26%) is the best-selling passenger car in the country both in April and year-to-date while the Mazda2 overtakes both the Toyota Vios and Yaris this month. Notice also the Nissan Almera up 85%, and among recent launches the Toyota Sienta at #26, the Nissan Note at #36 and the Toyota Innova Crysta at #40.
