After two months suffering a decline linked to the devaluation of the local currency, the Turkish new light vehicles market is back in positive territory in November: up 5% year-on-year to 84.601 registrations, meaning the year-to-date total is still up by a flamboyant 31% on the same period in 2014 at a record 811.844 units. Renault snaps the pole position away from Volkswagen falling sharply to just 12.2% share in third place vs. 15.1% and #1 so far this year: that’s Turkish for dieselgate. Stop sales on certain diesel models have shaken the German manufacturer: not a single VW Caddy sold this month and the Jetta is down to #47 vs. #11 year-to-date. Fiat is up two spots on both its October and year-to-date ranking at a beautiful 12.5% share vs. 10.9% so far in 2015, while Ford drops to 4th place and 1.3%. Far below are Opel, Hyundai and Toyota.

Fiat Fiorino Turkey November 2015The Fiat Fiorino is the best-selling vehicle in Turkey in November.

Model-wise, the passing of guard between the Fiat Linea – 2015 market leader but down to #13 – and its successor the Egea already breaking into the Top 20 at #17 with 1.486 sales has created a vacuum atop the ranking filled this month by… the Fiat Fiorino in pole position with 3.298 sales and 3.9% share despite its five years of age. The Opel Astra gets a kick with the arrival of the new generation hatchback, yet the previous model still generates the large majority of the nameplate’s sales with the sedan variant accounting for 55% of all Astras sold in Turkey in November. The VW Passat lands at an outstanding third position just above the Renault Fluence and Ford Courier.
