No respite for the Czech new car market: August sales are up a whopping 31% year-on-year to 18.378 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 22% to 152.954 units, already more than the Full Year 2008 total of 143.661… Keep in mind though that roughly 17% of all new car registrations in the Czech Republic are immediately re-exported towards other European Union nations. In this context the Skoda Fabia confirms it has resumed its domestic domination, lodging a second consecutive month atop the Czech sales charts with 1.773 units, distancing the Skoda Octavia at 1.545 and the Rapid at 719. The Hyundai i30 is the best-selling foreigner once again at 584 sales above the VW Golf at 512 and the Hyundai ix35 pushed up by runout discounts to 365 units. The VW Passat is up 5 spots on July to #8, the Opel Insignia up 24 to #11, Ford Transit Custom up to $13, Seat Ibiza up 27 to #17 but 100% are re-exported and the Hyundai Tucson breaks into the Czech Top 50 at #36 for its 2nd month in market.
