As the demise of the Thai new vehicle market is approaching its one year anniversary, logically the year-on-year declines become smaller: from -35% in July to -31% in August, -26% in September and -20% in October to a still very modest 70,850 deliveries. Year-to-date, the Thai market is down a horrendous 36% or almost 400,000 sales on 2013, going from 1,118,225 to 719,260 sales in 10 months. Brand-wise, Toyota continues to be ultra-dominant with just under 38% market share ahead of Isuzu (17.6%), Honda (12.5%), Mitsubishi (7.1%) and Nissan (6.9%), replicating the YTD Top 5. Mazda (#6) is above Ford for the second straight month but below the American manufacturer YTD, with the rest of the Top 13 absolutely identical to the YTD ranking!
The Toyota Hilux unsurprisingly tops the models ranking thanks to another mammoth month at 11,886 sales or 16.8% share, above its direct competitor the Isuzu D-Max just under 10,000 units for a 14.1% share. The Toyota Vios is only 9 units below its hatchback variant the Toyota Yaris, both models fighting for the third step on the podium, while the Honda City is stable at #5. Bolstered by its new generation, the Nissan Navara continues to climb the ladder, up one further spot on September to #8 with 3.1% share, almost double its YTD score of 1.6% (#14). The Honda Jazz brilliantly lodges a 5th consecutive month in the Thai Top 10 at #10, the Mazda3 is strong again at #14 and the Honda Mobilio breaks into the Top 20 at #18 for its 2nd month of sales in the country.
