The Thai new light vehicle market slows down its free fall slightly in September at -26% year-on-year to 69,137 registrations vs. -31% in August and -35% in July. The year-to-date total now stands at 648.410 units, down a harsh 37% on 2013. Below the traditional leaders the Toyota Hilux (15.7% share) and Isuzu D-Max (13.8%), the Toyota Yaris reclaims the third position it holds year-to-date off its sedan variant the Toyota Vios, with the Honda City rounding up a Top 5 identical to the year-to-date ladder.
The Honda Mobilio directly tops its segment for its first month in market!
The Mitsubishi Triton is one percentage point above its YTD level at 4.7% share in 6th place and the Honda Jazz remains at stratospheric levels thanks to the new generation at #8 and 3.9% share vs. #13 and 1.7% YTD. But the big event inside the Thai Top 10 this month is the arrival of Nissan Navara at #9 with 2,046 sales and 3% share vs. 1.4% YTD thanks to the new model now spreading in dealerships across the nation. Other great performers include the Mazda3 up to #13, Honda Amaze up to #21, Ford Ecosport up to #23 and Nissan Pulsar up to #24.
This month in Thailand we welcome the Honda Mobilio in 25th position with 533 sales which means it is also #1 in its segment above the Honda Freed (#31) and Toyota Avanza (#35)! The Mobilio already impressed in Indonesia where it ranks #2 overall so far this year and in India where it hit #11 for its 2nd month of sales last August, and Thailand looks like it will add to the list. Finally, let’s notice the arrival of Chinese manufacturer SAIC MG with the MG 6 ranking #51 in September with 33 units sold.
