40,445 new light vehicles found a new home in Belgium in September, bringing the year-to-date total to 430,703 units. The VW Golf holds onto the pole position by a large margin thanks to 1,231 sales and 3% share, the only model to sell over 1,000 units this month in the country. Once again a very volatile models ranking in September mainly due to its extreme fragmentation: the Opel Corsa at 2.1% share is the only other model to hold more than 2% of the Belgian market this month, due to runout prices on the outgoing generation. It ranks #13 YTD. The Renault Scénice also gets a boost, rounding up the podium at 2% share but the best performance in September goes to the Fiat 500, shooting up 12 spots on August to land at a brilliant 4th place with 739 sales and 1.8%. Like in neighbouring France where the 500 is also evolving at record heights, these figures do not include the 500L and make the performance even more impressive. Other great performers include the Toyota Yaris up to #10, VW Golf Sportsvan up to #17, Mercedes C-Class up to #24 and the Citroen C4 Cactus up 47 ranks on last month to #35.
