Japan Kei cars September 2014: Daihatsu Tanto up 88%

After losing ground for two months, sales of new Kei cars in Japan are back in positive in September: up 2.5% to 203.448 registrations and bringing the year-to-date total to 1,739.893 units, up 8% on 2013. The Daihatsu Tanto is the best-selling vehicle in Japan (all categories) thanks to sales up 88% to 20,554 units. After months of settling for #3 or #4 the Honda N-BOX returns to the #2 spot it hasn’t held since March. The Nissan Dayz stays at #3 while the Suzuki WagonR falls two places to #4. Two recent newcomers swap places as the Honda N-WGN takes #5 from the Suzuki Hustler which comes in at #6.
