Portugal April 2014: Renault Clio doubles sales in market up 53%

If you thought Portuguese new car sales could not grow any faster than the 47% it delivered last month, you were wrong! April is up an even more impressive 53% year-on-year to 12,313 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 46,268 units, up 44% on 2013. The Top 7 most popular carmakers are identical to the year-to-date ranking: Renault leads the way with 12.1% share (+94%) ahead of Peugeot (+68%), Volkswagen (+43%), BMW (+29%), Mercedes (+48%), Opel (+40%) and Audi (+27%). Notice also Fiat up 107% to #8, Ford up 101% to #10, Seat up 127% to #11, Dacia up 161% to #14 and Mitsubishi up 256% to #18…

In the models sales charts, the Renault Clio doubles its sales year-on-year to reclaim the pole position off its big sis the Renault Mégane at 800 sales and 6.5% share, ahead of the Peugeot 208 and the VW Polo up 7 spots on March to #3. The Fiat Punto is up 12 ranks to #5, the Seat Ibiza up 4 to #9, Ford Fiesta up 13 to #10, Toyota Auris up 8 to #12, VW Up up 16 to #23 and the Nissan Juke up 12 to #25. Further down, the Dacia Duster is up 20 spots to #43, the Mercedes GLA lodges another strong month at #55 and the Porsche Macan becomes the brand’s best-seller at #120.
